What a powerful little disc this is, when i listened to this for the first time [early in 2001], i thought that Harding pushed his Orchestra just too far, these are hard driven readings on the whole, fast speeds, abrupt stops and starts, not smooth and glorious like Karajan, now i sit on the edge of my seat, Harding isn't for the comfy rocking chair, more like a roller coaster chair!,
What are your favorite final farewells in classical music?

For me, Mahler's 9th and Shostakovich's Viola Sonata immediately come to
mind, but there are a lot of great ones.
