Schubert - Symphony 8 [Koopman-The Netherlands Radio Chamber Orchestra]Back in April i played this same Symphony by Lorin Maazel [7th April 2010], and that was an incredible experience, that became my 'recording of the month' in my written Journal, and here too i'm loving this work, it's lovely and dark [in B Minor], it has these rhythms that aren't particularly upfront, a nice tread to things, a bit funeral marchy! in places, i used to love the Ninth Symphony so much, is now the Eighth taking over maybe?.
Ton Koopman is well known for his Bach, and especially keyboard works and the Cantatas, but here he's conducting Schubert?, a bit out of his way,
