Brahms - 4 Klavierstucke Op119 [Vogt]

Another set of the shorter piano pieces from Brahms, this time from Vogt, he plays fairly slow, so only gets room for three sets on this disc, Grimaud gets the Op116 as well, it's been a little while since i've heard these pieces, and this is only the second time i've dipped into this disc, but this piano music is sublime, it takes a degree of deeper concentration to really hear what's going on.

Lars Vogt is a German Pianist, now 41 years old, still a tad young [well younger than me!], he recorded these works in 2002, the booklet cover [by Frank Reinhold] is of a tight face shot of Vogt, in black and white, though it's printed with a shade of green, the back of the booklet actually shows the other half of his face, so if you fold it out you get a complete portrait, a nice idea.

Here's Irena Koblar playing the Rhapsodie of Op119 on YouTube.
