Ravel - String Quartet [Keller String Quartet]

Ravel's String Quartet appeared 3 times in my Blog last year, it's a work that i have developed a deeper appreciation for over the last couple of years, it was a couple of years ago that the first movement really hit me hard, since then i've always looked forward to hearing this Quartet again.

The Keller String Quartet were formed in 1987, they're a Hungarian Quartet, the front cover booklet photo is excellent, a close up picture of a leaf, showing all its veins, and yellow and green colours, a nice visual statement, this String Quartet was recorded in 1993, just a word about the back insert, of course it's from the ASV label, and the Lindsay String Quartet of these same two works [plus Stravinsky], and it's another one of these 'amalgamated' disc sets, the Apex issue has a better booklet cover.

The first two movements are terrific, and it's these i've really fallen for, hopefully the other two will develop into a strong love also, it's the second movement i liked the best,

Here's the Hagen String Quartet playing the second movement on YouTube.
