It's Beethoven's masterpiece in the Violin Sonata medium again, this disc was played early in my Blog last year [8th February 2010], and it makes a second appearance here, i must admit she isn't either noticeable for any fussy or idiosyncratic playing [a good thing], but also she doesn't particularly draw attention the other way, for enlightened interpretations [not so good], she's rather middle of the road, letting Beethoven take the limelight [a very good thing], it's still early days in listening to McAslan and this disc to make hard and fast opinions, but i'm glad to have had a chance to familiarize myself to McAslan's soundworld.
Lorraine McAslan is Scottish, having a tendency to recorded on lesser known labels [ASV and Collins], this disc shows her on the front cover with a serious look, but it's a well proportioned photograph, nice use of the hands, good background too, the recording was made in 1986.
