Ravel - String Quartet [Britten String Quartet]Here's Ravel's String Quartet again, this time performed by the Britten Quartet, they were founded in 1986 by the first violinist Peter Manning, i believe they have since disbanded the Quartet, this recording was made in 1990-1991, i like the booklet, four black & white mug shots [photography by Stephanie Rushton], a great idea, the red lettering / logo adds to the art, nice sense of depth and contours with the shadows.
Also this is a nice 'logical' coupling in a way, instead of the usual Debussy, we have a Vaughan Williams Quartet, and RVW studied with Ravel for a time, there's a nice link there, plus it's good to hear the rarer Vaughan Williams works.
