This is my fifth favourite album of all time, a work of genius from Jackson Browne, it chronicles to some degree the break up of Browne's relationship with Darryl Hannah, and here Browne loses the political bent on his last albums, and instead produces a work of raw lyrical emotion and regret, each song tugs at the heart in some way, and Browne being a poetic painter with his words, is almost on a par with Joni Mitchell, i thought that he would never better his 1974 album 'Late For The Sky', but he has far exceeded it, i played this same album in mid 2010, and my thoughts on it are here [6th May 2010].
Jackson Browne is a German born American, he's now 63, and he recorded this album in 1993, the front cover picture shows Browne in a pool or a lake [photo by Bruce Weber], a black and white shot, the picture's great, but the lettering isn't ideal, the back cover shows his reflection in the water [upside down], i really do like the front cover booklet of this one.
The songs that especially got to me were 3, 7 & 9, track 9 'Sky Blue And Black' is my favourite, but this time i found track 7 'Take This Rain' to be so compelling,
Here's Jackson Browne singing 'Take This Rain' on YouTube.
